Panama City - Saltwater Fishing Report

Panama City, NW Florida
OK, the trout are open again as well as the steam plant. Went on opening day and caught a lot of fish, several of six pound along with some reds and a couple of flounder. Everything depends on how cold we stay for the next few weeks as to how quickly things get going.
If the weather holds the spanish will be in somewhere between the 15ht and the 30th of March. Spanish are a lot of fun and can make for a lot of action. In the pass the reds and sheepshead are just now starting to hit. If your a local and reading the paper, can't believe much of what they put in there when it comes to fishing, remember they are trying to sell papers. Live shrimp and fiddler crabs are the best bait for sheeps. You can get fiddlers on sunny days along the beaches. They will stay alive in a bucket with sand and moisture for days.
Not much to talk about for offshore, very rough out there. You can catch some b-liners and other cold water fish on some of the public spots.
Weather is the big thing this time of the year. As it warms up the fishing will warm up also.
We caught two ten pound plus trout last year, let both go--if your looking for a trophy, I'm you man.
Hope to see you on the boat.
JP
