Florida Fishing Report for Panama City & Destin

Capt. James Pic
May 28, 2005
Panama City - Saltwater Fishing Report

Panama City/NW Florid

Wow! The bay is more alive than I have seen in five years.

Each day more big spanish along with blue's and ladyfish seem to be moving into the bay making fishing a topwater or fly fishermans dream. This week we had several slams on the fly and on artificial.

The trout are also on fire. Several trips catching 50 or more on topwater within the first two hours of sunrise. We have had a few reds and continue to look for them. Everything is still a few weeks behind this year due to the cool spring but the amount of fish is unbelievable. Had a trip wih Ian Byrd and Chris Mitchell a couple of days ago all fly and artificial, easily 150 fish caught. That seems to be the norm and I expec that to continue for at least another week or until it starts getting brutally hot. Hearing good reports of pompano along the beaches and we have caught some flounder.

Overall outlook for this season seems to be very good, can't be anything else with the amount of fish out there.

Tight Lines,

JP

More Fishing Reports:

Sight casting fly and spinning for reds, trout, bonita, spanish, jacks and many other species. Live bait trips available as well as hot topwater action in the bay around Panama City, Florida. Depending on the time of the year I can normally put you on legal grouper in the bay, monster speckled trout, lot's of fly fishing action and just about everything else that swims and good tablefare.
