Panama City - Saltwater Fishing Report

Panama City/Florida Panhandle
The fishing remains superb for the year. Despite that hot weather and the rain I can honestly say that I can't remember when the bay fishing has been so good.
If your just looking for a good pull, topwater for blues and spanish is good and should get better as the days begin to shorten up with the onset of fall. We had some blues in the five pound range and spanish even bigger within the last few days. On a recent charter with one of my old customers, John White, we had one spanish that measured almost 27 inches at the fork. We also had eight reds that day and a bunch of trout.
We have been putting some good flounder in the boat along the sandy drops and in the holes....even though we have been getting them on live bait it is not to early to start bouncing white grubs in the same areas.
Now for the trout and reds.....reds first. I'm starting to put any where from three to ten a day in the boat...depending on the weather and other conditions. Many are keepers but some are undersize which means next year should be good. Trout are the bomb this year, had an eight pound fish come into the boat today and then was released.....it's nothing for us to bring eight to fifteen legal fish in each day this year with several being over the 20 inch slot limit. This should only get better as summer comes to a close and the weather starts to change...i caught my 10 1/2 pound trout last year at the end of August and I think that under my supervision there will be several trophy fish put in the boat this year.
If you want to go fishing in the bays you need to book me....I am, by far, the best bay guide on the water.....you can fish with the others but if you want fish, I'm your man.
