Panama City - Saltwater Fishing Report

Panama City/NW Florida
Spring is just around the corner and if this warm weather continues the spanish and cobia will be here early.
If your looking for something to catch you can try some of the following:
Warren Bayou, or the "steam plant canal" as it is commonly referred to. Holding a lot of fish of all kinds this time of the year. You can either use live bait or artificia, grubs being the best. Remember, this spot is catch and release only until March 1.
Creeks and bayous. As with each winter a lot of fish migrate up into the creeks, rivers and bayous during this time of the year. I have always had best luck in the afternoon with live shrimp.
Around inshore and bay structure. You can find reds along with grouper around many of the inshore spots and some of the deep spots around the bay. Live bait, like chofers, is best. Also you can catch a bucket full of whiting if you find a deep sandy spot near structure.
Spring run is just around the corner, time to get your gear in order. Good luck and see you on the water.
