Florida Fishing Report for Panama City & Destin

Capt. James Pic
August 23, 2006
Panama City - Saltwater Fishing Report

Panama City/NW Florida

Although it's getting hot the fishing has steadily been improving.

Trout and reds are becoming easier to find with a lot of the bigger trout in two or three foot of water. Have found several new schools of reds, putting several in the boat the last few weeks. Most of our fish are being caught on live bait but we are also taking some on the fly and topwater.

The big spanish are still piling into the bay and have not slowed down all summer. This will continue late into the fall.

Been running some king trips and having quite good success with them. Had nine, with two around 20 lbs., within two hours last Tuesday.

Black snaps are showing up around some of the piers and the flounder are also on the move.

Looks like my favorite time of the year, September and October, are going to have a lot to offer.

See you on the water.

JP

Depending on the time of the year I can normally put you on legal grouper in the bay, monster speckled trout, lot's of fly fishing action and just about everything else that swims and good tablefare.
