Florida Fishing Report for Panama City & Destin

Capt. James Pic
April 30, 2007
Panama City - Saltwater Fishing Report

Panama City/NW Florida

Cobia run is in full swing with a lot more fish this year than last. Some big fish...60lbs. plus were caught over the weekend. Get out and get you one because it won't last forever...couple more weeks at best.

Trout are easy to catch on the flats. There are a lot of small fish this year and that means more big ones for next year. So far it looks like we are going to have a good year for the reds also.

Lately I have been targeting trout and reds in the early morning and then moving to other places for spanish and blues. The fishing overall has been good and the break out weeks are just around the corner. With no red tide last year I expect to put a dozen 8lbs. plus trout in the boat this year. If you want to fish for a trophy trout I have some spots that have produces year after year.

Looks like the pompano along the beach are big this year with a couple of six pound fish being caught,.

All in all, should be a great year for fishing.
