Florida Fishing Report for Panama City & Destin

Capt. James Pic
May 20, 2007
Panama City - Saltwater Fishing Report

Panama City/NW Florida

All of the palegics have arrived. For the flyfishermen, I had a trip laying flies into an acre big school of ladyfish with big blues and spanish mixed in a few days ago. Lots of blues, big spanish and a few jacks running around the bay right now. Also...for the fly fishermen and spinners; the trout bite is on fire this year. We have been catching as many as fifty in a couple of hours for a few weeks. White clousers or DOA shrimp are working great.

We have run into a few schools of reds and we should have a great redfish year, ten in a morning type days.

I don't look for much to change unless it gets better. The sharks should start showing up soon which are always fun on light tackle.

Sorry so short this week, been running a lot and will try to post a little more involved report in a few days.

Depending on the time of the year I can normally put you on legal grouper in the bay, monster speckled trout, lot's of fly fishing action and just about everything else that swims and good tablefare.
