Spring Bite around Panama City Florida heating up!

Capt. James Pic
March 19, 2014
Panama City - Saltwater Fishing Report

As we headed to the pass today for sheepshead and redfish we passed a couple of the commercial boats catching spanish. As we left the pass, after a great morning, I watched a guy standing on Deepwater Point put a big spanish on the beach. So...long story short; spanish are here.
In the pass, we are catching a few nice sheeps and big redfish. We did not get a red in the slot today.
Some days I have been hitting some trout holes and getting some big trout on the big live shrimp we save from the sheepshead fishing.
A week from now you should be able to catch some limits of spanish when you hit the water.

Panama City Fishing Forecast:

Sheeps are just getting going. Next two weeks should be the prime time. Along with them there are a lot of redfish in the pass. Most are out of the slot so handle them with care not to hurt them.
Spanish are showing up which means the cobia are not far behind.
Trout and redfish bite will pick up soon. We had 8 trout over 27" last year...a couple over 28". Are you ready for that once in a lifetime trout? Give me a call I'll tell you what day to go fishing.

Target Species:

Spring bite is on!

More Fishing Reports:

Sight casting fly and spinning for reds, trout, bonita, spanish, jacks and many other species. Live bait trips available as well as hot topwater action in the bay around Panama City, Florida. Depending on the time of the year I can normally put you on legal grouper in the bay, monster speckled trout, lot's of fly fishing action and just about everything else that swims and good tablefare.
