Panama City - Saltwater Fishing Report

Wow, March has been awesome!!!
In February, we had some warm temperatures and the fish showed up early. First, the Spanish mackerel showed up and we caught the heck out of them for about two weeks, until a cold front moved in and slowed the bite down a bit. Most of the fish were small, but there were a few big ones mixed in. Even a few King mackerel were caught.

Then the sheepshead turned on, and it has been getting better everyday. We have been catching large numbers of big fish. These are great eating fish with really white flaky meat. However the sheephead bite should slow down around the full moon at the end of march, as they start to Spawn, but as of right now it's game on!!!

The redfish bite has been awesome all winter, and they have really turned on lately. Also, there are lots of big bulls to make your arms hurt.

Offshore:
Amberjacks have been the go to fish, and even though they are out of season, they are still fun to catch. We have been using my homemade jigs and tearing them up!!!

There is nothing better than catching these hard fighting fish as fast as you can get the jigs down to them. Bottom fishing has been a little slow due to water temperature, but we are still catching good numbers of trigger fish, vermilion snapper, white snapper and even a few scamp grouper to fill the box.

So, if you are looking for an awesome fishing trip, whether it be Inshore or offshore, this is the time of year to be on the water. Thank you all for reading my reports, and tight lines and bent poles to everyone.
Tight Lines,
