Panama City - Saltwater Fishing Report

Catching fish while dodging storms is what we like to do this time of year.
When we can get out to kingfish we do very well. One of my regulars, Ray Mallory, holds another good fish caught by him just prior to the tropical storm.

Ray likes to fish with 10lb. test when king fishing. Heres a red caught recently....the lighter the better.

I took a cute young lady fishing prior to Gustav, she caught this big king with a little help.

Trout bite continues to be good. This is the time of year we start catching a lot of nice trout, flounder and reds. These trout and flounder were caught by someone that didn't want thier picture taken this morning. Good job.

This is the best time of the year to fish. Lot's of good pulls and fish to put on the table. Hope you can make it down.
Panama City Fishing Forecast:

Everything is pretty much coming together. I don't allow the brown water to effect the fishing, just change tactics a little. Reds and trout will be thick along the flats. Palagics, such as spanish and blues get thick in the bay this time of year.
A big random grouper will be caught here and there.
The biggest fishing event for fall is the flounder migration. Each report I submit from here until late November should include some flounder culminating with some big number days in Nomvember.
Along the beach, the kings are thick and will remain that way through October. We also start targeting bonito on light tackle and fly this time of year.
I hope you can get some time and enjoy some of the great fall fish our area has to offer.
Target Species:

Everything that swims.
