Panama City - Saltwater Fishing Report

There are many great times of year to fish around Panama City. One of the best, and least known, is February and March. With the cold weather settling in later this week the big push for trout and reds into Warren Bayou, other bayous and creeks will happen. Trout are catch and release only during February but that doesn't mean the fish don't bite. Fly fishing in Warren Bayou in February is awsome. Along with trout and reds you can hook big jacks and even jump a tarpon. This trout is a winter fish caught in Warren Bayou. Around the bridge and in some my deeper holes we are catching good numbers of whiting and white trout.

March bring warm weather and the anticipation of the cobia run. I have fished for cobia off and on through the years and will start again this year now that I have an elevated steering station on my boat. Cobia are not hard to catch it just takes a little patience and accurate casting. I will be running nine hour cobia trips this spring which will cost $500. Three people is a good number but I can accomodate four. Not only will we fish for cobia but pompano, jacks and other fish that begin to show up around the beach during March and April.

Duck Season
What can I say about duck season. Great year! We shot a lot of ducks this year. More ducks this year than last and a lot more than recent years. Redheads, bluebills, blackjacks, widgeon, teal and woodies were the main ducks taken. We had some great wood duck hunts this year taking our limits many time. Three wood ducks a day has been great for hunting this year.
We have about two weeks left and I have some days available. Sorry to all the guys I had to turn away this year, like I said, I have some vacancies over the next two weeks and there are plenty of birds left to shoot.
