Pensacola - Saltwater Fishing Report

Christmas is almost here and 2015 is coming to an end.
Over the past two weeks since my last report I've not fished as much. Either it's been too windy, rainy or I got stuck in a holding pattern at the mall looking for parking. Besides, I've not had as many calls for trips as in the first half of December. My guess is folks are spending time with family during the holidays, which is just as it should be. There is always time to fish; family comes first!

So what's happening here along the panhandle for the last two weeks of the year? Well, it's been crazy warm here with temps in the upper 70's and almost 80 for the past two weeks. Yep, you would have thought it was Spring Break instead of Winter Break. But over the weekend we got a major cold front and tomorrow, December 21st, it is projected to be in the upper 40's in the morning and that should help move the trout and fire off the bite. Last week I spent some free time in the upper bay / river systems fishing for hybrids and had some success in those areas.

It has been a while since I targeted them, and I'll be out tomorrow early with my hand warmers ready to toss some hard baits for them again. I'm not fond of temps in the 30's and 40's, I'm more of a guy who likes the 50's, but this should really kick off the winter bite, and I'll trade cold fingers for a hot bite any day.
Here are a few pics from my last trip out in the upper bay areas. If I get any trips before the New Year I'll make a report, if not I'll make a New Years report around Jan 7th to let you know what happened the last two weeks of December and what's in store for 2016. Until my next update, I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Keep those rods bent, and tight lines… John
