Lots of Rain along with Lots of Redfish - Pensacola Fishing

Pensacola - Saltwater Fishing Report

May has arrived and although we are usually greeted to great fishing on the flats in the upper bay areas, we were instead treated to a rain event like no other on April 29th. We had 26.81" of rain in a 24hr period, and it is being called the 500-year storm. With this much rain in such a short time it has undeniably affected the fishing in some areas, but there are still some hidden honey holes. I've been out scouting a few times and ran a few trips I'm happy to say that the inshore bite is not as bad as I thought it was going to be. Some of my favorite spots to fish are messed up, but will be ok to fish in about two weeks, as soon the water gets right again.
So for now I'll be down in the sound, (better known as the ICW), targeting trout, redfish, and whatever else we can beguile to bend a rod. My trips are all artificial lure based unless you request live bait. But trust me, you won't need it. We catch plenty on artificial baits, and your hands won't get as dirty!

Let me tell you about my new 240 LTS Triton. I'm so pleased to have such an excellent rig to use as my office. This boat is at the top of the finest inshore bay boats on the market.

Its smooth ride makes for quick and comfortable runs to the fishing grounds no matter what conditions spring up on the water. The layout of deck design gives the angler plenty of room to fish and has tons of storage if needed. My tackle is top notch; I use Shimano Stradic CI 4 Reels and ASR Tournament Series Rods. These setups are among the best, because at Mega-Bite we do it right.

Tight Lines… John
