Spring is HERE!

Capt. Eddie Woodall
March 23, 2009
Pensacola - Saltwater Fishing Report

Spring is HERE, crowds of people on the beaches, public piers are loaded with pier rat's watching for their first cast to a migrating Cobia, and I'm fishing every day, Life is good!!!

I'm sight fishing for Red Fish on the Beach and working spots all around Pensacola Pass for big Sheepshead, the last two days has been very windy so we been fishing in Santa Rosa Sound for slot sized Reds and doing very well.

The first Cobia was caught March 8th by a boat out of Destin, there's been quite a few caught since then that I've heard of. The migration started a little early this year, I guess because the weather went from cold to hot towards the end of February and into March with lots of east southeast wind to help the fish along the coast. I‘ve not been out looking yet but it won't be long. I like to wait till the fish show in big numbers that way you have a better chance of catching one.

It should be a banner year for Speckled Trout, when we get the right weather in February and March like we have so far, April is my favorite month to catch the big spawning Specks. I can't wait for these fish to start showing up.
If you're thinking about heading to the panhandle for your vacation this year be sure and give me a call before you head this way, I'll be glad to answer any questions you might have about the area.

I've fished through fishless days that I remember happily and without regret!

I know one thing for sure - You ain't going to catch'em sittin' on the couch!!
So get out there, take a kid fishing and have a Blessed Day!
