Pensacola - Saltwater Fishing Report
Hello fellow anglers, I would like to welcome you to a new specialty fishing experience to Pensacola Florida called Saltwater Fishing Academy.
It's more of a teaching style charter for anglers who want to up their fishing skills from freshwater to saltwater or who are saltwater guys who want to learn more about inshore fishing.
It's an addition to my regular tourist inshore business
- Mega-Bite Inshore Charters – and although I still plan on running regular family outings or multiple angler trips, this will be more of a one on one approach to a guided charter.
I decided that I wanted to get back to fishing the flats and backcountry waters, which is reminiscent of my years freshwater fishing in the Midwest. I actually went to school to become a high school classroom teacher, but when I moved to the gulf coast, I fell in love with the fishing, and became a guide. Now I can take my classroom to the water, and school's never out for the summer!

Two-Day Trout Smack Down after Cold Front
I've said it before and I'll say it again, I love fishing in the fall! With the two small cold fronts that have come through the past week and a half it has really kicked off the trout bite. The water temp has dropped a few degrees, which is right on schedule and helps the bite tremendously.
Not only has the bite been outstanding, but also the fish are pretty big this year. I had a trip a couple of days ago and we boated over 60 fish and most of them were between 17–18 inches with a few right at 19 inches and we did manage one over 20. The trout are on their annual migration to the upper bay areas from the sound and lower bay and the trout that are residents of the upper bay areas are in full feeding mode!
(9-21-2012) was nearly as good as the last trip. The fish were still big, just not quite as many, (30 fish), and if the next trip we only catch half that, it would still be an awesome trip. The big fish of the day was 25 inches and made my guest Mark a very happy camper. It crushed a MirrOlure Paul Brown so hard that it was halfway down its gullet when we got him into the boat. We tossed a few different lures today, mostly hard baits when we were in the open water areas. When we were fishing the narrow canal channels lined with reeds, we were tossing spoons and soft-baits.
I've been fishing the outgoing tides in the morning and incoming in the afternoon for right now. I like to fish both tides to see which is better so when I have a client or a buddy call I can provide them with the best trip possible.
