Pine Island Sound - Saltwater Fishing Report

Fishing report for the week ending 2/14/2010
My fishing reports of late are more like weather reports because of the dominating series of fronts that have come through.
I cant remember a winter season with this many cold fronts so close together with no breaks, normally if you get a couple of tough days you will get a break soon following.
This week fishing on tuesday on the day before one of the fronts arrived we had strong winds out of the south, which I will take anytime. Trout were biting good fishing potholes with white redfish majic early and as the morning went on the tide got up and the water stired up to a point where you could not find the holes.
As noon approached we gave way to the wind and fished some deep holes in the wildlife refuge for rat reds using live shrimp with a splitshot on the bottom.
Fishing wednesday on a day when your jacket is your best friend we struggled to move between spots ending up in the wildlife refuge hiding behind the mangroves to get out of the wind. We were able to scare up a few nice trout with redfish majic but even a shrimp on the bottom brought very slow bites.
The lesson to take away from this is the days before the fronts are always better than after, south wind is good north is not.
We are looking for some light at the end of the tunnel with a break in the weather soon. Come on Spring!Tight lines get out and fish. At least its not snowing.
