Everythings a little late this year

Capt. Gary Clark
May 2, 2010
Pine Island Sound - Saltwater Fishing Report

Fishing report for the week ending 5/2/2010

Everything seems to be a little late this year, bait has been confined to the bay and beaches making the larger schools of tarpon just not being seen yet.
Our more than normal windy days have made fishing off the beaches tough at best.
The inshore trout and mackerel have been good on live shinners in spotty grass and sand bottom.

Snook and redfish are steady but not great, the days with stronger south winds and higher tides have been the best on mangrove shorelines and oysterbars.
There were a couple of slower days midweek when a combination of weak tides and water temps in the lower 70"s made fishing not as good as it should be for this time of year.
We are scheduled to have air temps in the 90"s midweek and lighter winds which should calm things down and get the bait a little more ganged up.
Photos this week are James Gunn with a redfish.
