Getting back to normal

Capt. Gary Clark
January 31, 2010
Pine Island Sound - Saltwater Fishing Report

Fishing report for the week ending 1/31/2010 Its nice for a change to talk about some possitive fishing and weather, with the last front comming in on Saturday being much weaker than ones in the past a weeks. With temperatures in the 70"s this week and another weather system 5 or 6 days out the redfish and trout are getting back into a winter pattern.
Some of my favorite trout fishing is on these low incoming tides either in potholes or flats transitions casting a 1/4 oz. white redfish majic presented slowly near the bottom. For anyone that does not like casting a live shrimp under a poping cork also works good.
Redfish of the 20 inch and under variety have been biting good near any deeper mangrove shorelines, a live shrimp with a splitshot on the bottom works best. Sheepshead and small mangrove snapper are also showing up in these deeper holes.
I have not seen the return of mackeral, bluefish and pompano that usually happens when more baitfish are present. Bigger redfish and trout have also been harder to find but with some more normal weather they should be back in the picture soon. Tight Lines Get out and fish!
