Pine Island Sound - Saltwater Fishing Report

Fishing report for the week ending 11/22/09 We are finally getting some of the weather now that we missed in October when we where sweating instead of enjoying the fall temps. Snook have been showing up in good numbers in the canal systems and river with the best fishing being from mid morning to the afternoon, the cool air in the morning has these fish moving slow ultil it warms up, live shinners are the best bet. Redfish have moved into a winter pattern of roaming the flats on high water and finding potholes on the low, topwater plugs get good reactions but a cutbait is the best bet. Seatrout have been plentiful all through the bay and even better wherever bait is present, grass and sand bottom with 3-5 ft. of water casting softbaits drifting works best. There are plenty of schooling size trout with good slot fish and some into the 3lb. range showing up, all of these trout spots are also producing mackeral, bluefish, pompano and ladyfish. Anytime you have the chance to see birds diving on the water investgate you wont be disapointed, these frenzys make for great action. I am also seeing small grouper showing up in these areas.
It looks like we are in for some great weather for Thanksgiving take advantage of it get out and fish!
