Sheepshead Fishing Outstanding

Capt. Darrin Covert
January 14, 2016
Pine Island Sound - Saltwater Fishing Report

With the cold weather, sheepshead fishing will be on fire. Sea trout up to 24 inches have been caught in the area. Sea trout can be caught all day long on light tackle they are very fun and kids have fun with them. I have been doing very good on pompano all around the sound catching them on the oyster bars and the sands pompano this time of year usually get up to four pounds, sometimes bigger. Throwing different colored jigs at them can turn them on, but you have to move around to find them.

We still have a lot of live bait around, but as the cold weather approaches they will be gone soon, so it will be shrimp fishing from there on out. If you would like to book a charter call or email and we will get you out to fish.

Tight lines,

I have been fishing the waters of Pine Island, Sanibel Island, Captiva Island, and Cayo Costa for 3 decades. I specialize in light tackle fishing for Redfish, Trout, Snook, Shark & Tarpon. You will be fishing on a 24ft. Morgan, plenty of room to fish out of and plenty of shade, a very comfortable and dry ride. I provide all the fishing tackle you will be using, and fishing license. I can accommodate up to 6 people.
