Pine Island Sound - Saltwater Fishing Report

Fishing report for the week ending 3/21/2010
Weather has still dominated the month but warmer water in the mid sixties has the fishing starting to look more and more like spring.
Trips this week saw good trout fishing on the grass flats near the Sanibel causeway on mixed sand and grass bottom in 3-6ft. Of water casting white redfish magic on a 1/4 oz. Jighead. I have also seen Spanish mackeral and silver trout showing up in these areas. Larger trout have been showing up around oysterbars on the higher water mirrolures and redfish magic have worked well for them.

Rat reds and a few slot fish have been taken around oysterbars on higher water using a live shrimp under a popping cork, some of the best days have been just before the fronts arrive on the south winds.
Snook have been slow but with some bait showing up water temperatures heading toward 70 and air temps around 80 midweek should get them going.
Sunny days and warmer water and air will make for some good fishing this week.
Tight lines get out and fish!
