Port St. Joe - Saltwater Fishing Report

The weather and fishing have been great the past week. I haven't been able to say that in a while. The early morning top water bite is back with big trout and a few reds taking top water plugs. As things heat up the fish have been moving a little deeper but they keep biting. You can catch fish midday on gulp shrimp and on live shrimp or live pinfish. There are still plenty of spanish around too. You can catch them on clark spoons or gotchas. They are thick around the channel coming our from the highland view bridge and at the shark hole.
The MBARA tournament in Mexico Beach this Saturday was a success. The weather cooperated giving anglers sunny skies, temps in the 80s, and 1-2' seas. A lot of kings, spanish, and wahoo were weighed in. There weren't any real monsters but there were a couple of kings in the low 40s a wahoo around 54# and several spanish in the 4-5# range.

As temps begin to cool down and we move closer to fall the top water bite will improve and we will begin to see more of the huge trout we saw in late spring. The redfish bite will get much better and you will see bigger redfish in the bay. Offshore the king bite should remain hot and the AJ bite will begin to pick up. September-Early November is a great time fish! I am still booked several weeks in advance but I do have openings from Sept. 15 and after. Call now if you would like to book a fall trip to fish St. Joe Bay. We will also be fishing St. Andrews bay beginning in early October. 732-278-2672
