Port St. Lucie - Saltwater Fishing Report

Finally got a day where we could fish Forecast was 5 to 10 knot winds out of the north seas 2 to 3 feet 8 second period, and in true NOAA fashion the forecast was incorrect. Seas were at least 15 knots out of NE and seas with every bit of 3 to 4 feet with most being 4. We were able to slowly make our way out to the fishing grounds about 6 miles out of the inlet. Once out there I was able to use my minkota I-pilot to anchor us electronically. The fish finder was marking lots of bait as el as larger fish. The fishing was slow, we were using cut squid, sardines and cut grunts. We had wind against current so the top lines weren't deploying properly. The water was nice and clear with great visibility and sea temp was 76 degrees. By the end of the day we did get a nice catch including a 17" Mangrove snapper weighing in at 4 pounds nd a half dozen lane snappers all between 12 and 14 " By 1 PM the crew had enough so we called the day early and headed back.
