Bottom fishing South Fla

Port St. Lucie - Saltwater Fishing Report

I took Andy and Paul, from the fishing club out to the snapper hole today. We left early and found the bait guy in the inlet selling bait, we bought 2 dozen. We headed out seas were 2 to 3 foot. I stopped at a couple spots on the way to check them out neither spot looked promising so we continued to the original planed spot. The sea surface temperature was 84 degrees the water was crystal clear and what a color of blue. The fishing was slow lots of grunts and small tiger fish along with under size black sea bass. We got 1 nice size trigger fish at that spot. Our next spot was only ½ miles away. I put a long line down with a large strip of cut grunt and had a great hit. When I got it to the surface Paul netted the fish, a real nice 29" red snapper we took a quick picture and released it. Throughout the day we had lots of fish ended up with a few legal size sea bass as well as a porgy and the trigger fish. When we got near the inlet it was the bottom for the outgoing tide the contrast between the blue ocean water and the murky river water is enough to make you cry there is a defined line between the two water sources
