Port St. Lucie - Saltwater Fishing Report

I completed a trip I donated to the Port St Anglers club yesterday for their annual kids fishing contest. The Lewis family, Mom, Dad and 2 sons had a great day on the water weather was perfect one foot seas. Light wind out of the south east. We headed out to the snapper hole 12 miles NE of Fort Pierce inlet, 8 feet of water, sea temperature was 81 degrees, water clarity was at least 40 feet, slight current we were able to easily hold bottom with 6 ounces of lead. We were using chicken rigs with cut squid and cut grunts for bait I also had 2 long lines out with grunt heads as bait. They caught a lot of fish but as usual most were just short of legal. They did get a few real nice vermilion snapper out of the 30 or 40 they caught and released. There were also a lot of trigger fish caught 3 were legal and as usual 100s of grunts. On the long lines they caught 5 large else that were released. A nice shark was caught and released as well.
