Port St. Lucie - Saltwater Fishing Report

I had a family of three on a flats trip in the Indian River Lagoon. We put the boat in at Little Mud Ramp on South Hutchinson Island. The wind was blowing about 15 knots out of the south, with Partly clouded skies. This was not at all what the marine forecast called for. There was a slight chop as we went north. We started fishing south just off the yellow house, in 5 foot of water, we started by drifting, when we hooked up I dropped the power pole and we stayed in the area for a while, then continued our drift. The clarity was terrible we had less than 2 feet visibility. The water temperature was just less than 70 degrees. We were using a variety of lures and fresh shrimp. They caught a lot of jacks and a real nice sea trout. The most productive lure was a (17 MR) "MirrOlure" in yellow, with red eyes. The brown with spots and clear eyes also did well. The husband used the lures and the wife and daughter used shrimp and cut mullet on ultra-light rods. The weather held for the duration of the trip, the wind increased only slightly throughout the day. We got off the water around 1:30 in the afternoon, on the way home I picked up some light rain.
