Port St. Lucie - Saltwater Fishing Report

On Monday I took a family out fishing to my favorite spot, the snapper hole. The seas were 2 to 3 feet in the morning wind was out of the south west. It was a little chilly in the am as well. Once I was on target I used my Minkota trolling motor to electronically anchor on my favorite site, the bottom machine was marking some fish. The fishing was somewhat slow but steady, not what I am use to at this spot. At this spot is a ledge that rises from 80 feet to 75 feet. I tried a few other spots in the same area and none were holding a lot of fish. SO I decided to run south to a spot in 85 feet of water I've had good luck with. The bottom machine showed a little more action, we got a few grunts and quickly turned them in to cut bait. One of the kids caught a nice Gag Grouper that we released. Then we started catching some decent trigger fish and a bunch of small vermilion snapper. There were also a few lane snapper mixed in with the vermilions. The kids grew tired so I put a line out as well and caught a nice legal size Black Sea bass. By the end of the day we had a dozen nice trigger fish and a dozen lane snapper and 1 sea bass in the cooler.
