Palm Beach Inlet

Capt. Mark Rosen
June 29, 2016
Port St. Lucie - Saltwater Fishing Report

We fished out of Palm Beach inlet yesterday. On the way out to the inlet we found a guy selling live bait, we bought 2 dozen at $20 per dozen. After breaking the inlet we headed NE till we got to 100 feet of water typically there is a very strong northern current in this area but this day no current at all. The water temp was 82 degree and clarity very good. I decided to use the trolling motor and create a drift heading north. We had live bait on top along with live bait on the bottom. We were also using chicken rigs with cut squid. We caught 2 very nice Mangrove snappers on the chicken rigs. We were also catching some very nice vermilion snapper as well. We then started catching Gray Trigger fish unfortunately they were all just over 13". As we were power drifting we saw 3 5 to 7 foot sharks under the boat. We drifted by a very nice weed patch so we casted clark spoons along the weeds and soon hooked up on a black fin tuna. Unfortunately as we got the tuna near the blat the shark decided he wanted it more than we did and took the entire fish. By the end of the day we had a nice catch of snappers, very large grunts, and porgies. We also caught some extremely colorful fish that would have looked great in a fish tank which were released.
