Port St. Lucie - Saltwater Fishing Report

Indian River Fishing Report April 7, 2005
INSHORE:
The weather has been beautiful this week. Some springtime winds daily, but nothing to keep you from fishing. There are plenty of places on the river to fish and avoid the winds when they kick up. Temperatures are in the high 70's to the 80's and it's great to live in Florida!
Trout are active and hitting on the flats. I have had a lot of luck around Bear Point the past couple of weeks. You can also find the marauding snook patrolling the flats there. Use live shrimp on a popping cork, top water, spoons and jigs out there. The Fishing Center of St Lucie in Fort Pierce has a great selection of lures, tackle and some real lively shrimp to help your fishing day. Stop by and let Clint or Kelly take care of your fishing needs.
Redfish are tailing on the flats and looking for something to eat. Live baits are always the best choice, but spoons, jigs and top water will entice one into a good fight. Most catches are in the slot range and have been running from 24" to 30". My go to lure for reds is Captain Mike's Spoons. They will also attract an array of other fish on the flats, like jacks, trout or snook.
Next week, I will be out of pocket so to speak....... My lovely lady, Eva and I are getting married this Saturday and heading down to the Keys for a honeymoon. And the best thing....she loves to fish! I'll be back the next week with some more fishing to catch up on.
It's been a great week on the water. Fishing is not just another hobby....it's an ADVENTURE!
Hope you had a chance to get out fishing!
Good Fishing!
