3 days at the snapper hole

Capt. Mark Rosen
September 29, 2016
Port St. Lucie - Saltwater Fishing Report

I fished the last 3 days near the snapper hole. The forecast was wrong ,the reported seas were 3 to 4 feet and what we had was around 2 feet or less all three days. The water temperature was 84 degrees and water clarity good. We caught a lot of fish all 3 days. I fished in several spots I have marked out there ranging from 60 feet deep to 110 feet deep. We caught 6 red snappers that were released. Several mutton snapper, 4 Mangrove snappers, a lot of yellow tail snappers 3 were very large. We caught over 25 Lane snappers up to 17", 7 barracuda the largest was 49", 3 king mackerel, a lot of sea bass 4 were over 15", a lot of vermilion snapper all were short. We also caught 7 nurse sharks the largest was just over 10 feet. The area had a large volume of sardines we were able to catch with a Sebeka rig. One of the days there were a lot of spinner sharks in the area. I caught a large king mackerel that was bit off just past the gills.
