South Indian River Fishing Report

Capt. Charlie Conner
June 15, 2017
Port St. Lucie - Saltwater Fishing Report

South Indian River Fishing Report 6/15

Inshore:

Well, we went from drought to deluge! Much needed rains have been arriving daily to fall on the Treasure Coast lately. It put a halt to most of the fishing, but we certainly welcomed the wet weather. The rainy season arrived in full force. The water temps have cooled down into the 70's. Watch the forecasts and plan your fishing adventures accordingly.

We did get out earlier in the week just before the soakings hit the area hard. Don, Sherman and Art were back this month and brought their golfing buddy, Marty, with them. The guys caught some nice trout along with keeper mangrove snapper and other assorted species to make for a fun day. We got off the water before the first rains of the day moved into the area. Now, it has taken three days to try and get the yard mowed before I need to get a hay baler! The trout bite picked up this week on the grass flats. DOA Deadly Combos will work great to locate the trout. We have found some nice snapper hanging around the docks this week. Largest mangrove was 16". Fishing will be good, but watch the weather!

Rainy weather make for a good time to check your equipment. Oiling reels, checking guides and cleaning out those cubby holes that you store lures and assorted other tackle. Don't forget that safety equipment on the boat. Dates of flares are often that forgotten thing that you know will be checked on a safety inspection. Check that first aid kit to make sure everything is stocked and usable in case of emergency.

Remember, as always, fishing is not just another hobby……it's an ADVENTURE!

Good Fishing,
Captain Charlie Conner
