South Indian River Fishing Report

Capt. Charlie Conner
June 6, 2018
Port St. Lucie - Saltwater Fishing Report

South Indian River Fishing Report 6/6

Inshore:

Mother Nature made up for the drought that we had this winter. Day after day of steady rains with lots of flooding have given us the much needed rain, but too much that isn't good for the rivers. Too much dirty, fresh water is draining into the area from Lake Okeechobee and all places in between. It looks like another bad year for the water quality! Fort Pierce has held up better than down in Stuart. Hopefully we won't have much more rains like the past several weeks.

Fishing has been difficult at best. There have been a few breaks in the weather for anglers to get out. It has been a good bite for trout in the Fort Pierce area. DOA CAL's and Deadly Combos are good soft baits along with top water lures. Getting out early has been best. Snook fishing around the jetties has been decent most days. The spillways are very active with the rains lately. Remember that snook season closed June 1st. Snapper have been plentiful along channel edges, docks and mangroves. There are some nice keepers in the mix. Look for Spanish mackerel coming in with the tides around the inlets. Now that the storm has moved out of the area, things should improve soon.

Watch the weather this time of year for thunderstorms and rainy afternoons. Be prepared and have rain gear handy. Enjoy the June fishing on the Treasure Coast!

Remember, as always, fishing is not just another hobby……it's an ADVENTURE!

Good Fishing,
Captain Charlie Conner
