Port St. Lucie - Saltwater Fishing Report

The day started off at about 4:15 am sunday morning when i met local guide Greg Scherer out of Billy Bones bait and tackle. We put the boat in at about 4:25 and idled over to the old Roosevelt bridge where we fished for about 30 mins. but nothing was happening at this particular spot.
So after the tide changed we went to the new Roosevelt bridge where we managed to catch 3 snook,26",24",and a 30". after about 45 minutes of this we decided to relocate to a spot to try some topwater.
We tried several spot up the river but no takers. So at about 9:30am we decided to return to the bridge area and try topwater there and what do know within 20 mins. I had my first topwater bite of the morning. With that being said the fish missed my bait and would not return for a second chance.
But Greg was quick on his feet and fired his swimbait into the very spot where the fish just missed my topwater. Within 2 cranks of the handle Greg was reelin a 29" snook to the boat.
Little did I know that within 20 feet of the fish that Greg caught I would catch one more 29" snook on topwater at 10am our day was done.
Well until next week good luck
