Sanibel - Saltwater Fishing Report
December 29th, fishing with Marti Ketko. Today is the day before a weak front, 80 degree plus air temperature and water temperature has been rising for more than a week. We are fishing Pine Island Sound today. The tide today is a negitive .5 very low with no water around most islands. We started with topwater plugs on the edge of the grass flats, there are hundreds of mullet with nice trout 1-3 lbs and some redfish mixed in. We caught several nice trout and a couple of great hits by redfish. As the morning went on we moved to some deeper potholes on the edge of the flat, the trout were more plentiful and bigger. Fishing softbaits on a jighead Martin ended up with a nice 26 inch -71/2 lb. redfish and several trout up to 3-lbs. The weather could not have been better for December and the fishing was great.
Sanibel Fishing Forecast:
There is a weak front going thru on Tuesday the 30th, the air temperature will be a little cooler but not much. Fishing should be good. Tight Lines.
