Sanibel - Saltwater Fishing Report

Backbay: Good reports all along the region. "The Redfish Rodeo" continues with double digit catches the norm with numbers of overslot fish. Crews offered up shrimp in various states of repair and
disrepair. As usual we opted for frozen stinkers, not too stinky. Other good bets were cut ladyfish, smallish pins and Leftover threads hacked into juicy steaks. The water remains stained in the windy conditions so a sweet bouquet is essential for really attractive offerings. There snook, snapper and flounder ate well to.
Snookers found active fish in the passes and around deeper structures along the channels
. Snook, tarpon, big reds and gator trout all ate arties, flies and shrimp on the evening outings.
Breeze conditions blow off the nighttime nibblers, so lots less bugs to bug you. Bridge anglers caught some mega liners and fat sow redfish. My crews scored on numbers of reds under the mangrove canopy in Estero Bay and Matlacha soaking shrimp tipped jigs under a cork with lots of chummers.
