Sanibel - Saltwater Fishing Report

Joe Saugrich and his sons Andrew and James, from Michigan came to Fort Myers to do a little fishing. It was their first time in the Fort Myers/Sanibel Island area and wanted to try to catch some Redfish or Snook, or both. Well, we didn't catch any Snook this time, but we did catch some very nice sized Redfish.

Andrew hooked up first and it didn't take him long either.all 3 Saugrich' boys casting away
The weather was awesome but the Redfish bite was just so so. We saw a bunch of Redfish several times but had a hard time getting them to eat.
Andrew's first catch of the day
Andrew's first Redfish was probably 28 inches (over slot size)

After lots and lots of casting, everybody in the boat caught some Redfish. Some caught more than others, but everyone caught some fish.

The above picture shows James very large Redfish and it was clearly the largest of the day. This fish easily weighed between 14 to 15 lbs.
Andrew won the first fish and most fish category and James easily won the largest fish category and that left dear old dad, Joe in a distance third place behind his teenage sons.
Joe did catch a nice Redfish as illustrated in the below photos.

The photography team was working hard while Joe was preparing to boat his fish.

Finally in the boat, we snapped a couple of more photos of the third place angler.
Heres a great photo of a dad and his two boys on a Sanibel Island fishing trip.
