Sanibel - Saltwater Fishing Report

Fishing report for the week ending 5/23/2010

The last two weeks it has been all tarpon with the light wind days which have been only four or five days producing numbers of fish sometimes in the hundreds to sight fish. Early in the week the wind kept many fisherman inshore where there are fish but not in the numbers that are off the beaches.

There has been at least one day in each of the last two weeks where the fish just seem to dissapear for no particular reason, thats tarpon fishing.
There are a nice mix of sharks with the tarpon, hammerheads up to 6ft. And plenty of 3 and 4 ft. blacktips and lemons. These sharks are fun to catch and are so abundant that sometimes you can not get a bait past them to get to the tarpon.

Live threadfin herring have worked best freelinned and cut bait is working well inshore.
Thursday we will fish a afternoon crabflow for the first time this season.
All idications lead to tarpon season running late this year so if you have not had a chance to get out your in luck.

I still have a few openings next week.
