Warm Water Keeps Tarpon Biting

Capt. Darrin Covert
November 25, 2015
Sanibel - Saltwater Fishing Report

The warm weather has helped the tarpon make a good showing. We are seeing fish up to 150 pounds with several 100 pounders landed. As the weather continues to transition with the change of season, sheepshead will begin showing up around the docks with more frequency and redfish will become more prevalent on the flats and around the oyster bars. There will also be increased opportunities for catching large size pompano around the passes. The warm water has also seen lots of quality sharks on the flats and big schools of bait are still in the area for now, until the cold fronts start pushing them out of here.
