Sarasota - Saltwater Fishing Report

Fishing has been good on the deep grass flats in Sarasota Bay of late. Our daily rains have begun which cools the water just a bit. Water temperature averaged 85 degrees or so. That makes a big difference over 88-90 degrees! Fish were actively feeding first thing in the morning. Bass Assassin Sea Shad baits and Gulp Shrimp on 1/4 ounce jig heads caught most of the fish. Speckled trout, Spanish mackerel, bluefish, jacks, snapper, grouper, ladyfish, sharks, catfish, and other species were caught by clients on Siesta Key fishing charters. The best spots were Big Pass, Middlegrounds, Stephen's Pt., and Buttonwood.
