Sarasota - Saltwater Fishing Report

Families with children were once again my clients on my Sarasota fishing charters the last two weeks. Anglers used a variety of techniques to fool quite a few different species. Live shrimp under a popping cork, chumming with baitfish, and casting jigs all produced on the deep grass flats in 6' to 10' of water. Speckled trout to 22", Spanish mackerel, bluefish, mangrove snapper, gag grouper, ladyfish, big sailcats, jack crevelle, and more were landed. The flats in the middle of Sarasota Bay were the best spots for me of late, (water was a bit cleaner) with Middlegrounds, Bishop's Pt., Buttonwood, and Stephen's Pt being the top spots. Snook are thick near structure and docks in both passes and hit free lined live shrimp.
