Sheepshead Schooling in Bay Pines

Capt. Ted Nesti
January 20, 2016
St. Petersburg - Saltwater Fishing Report

With the weather cooling down after a warm December, the Sheepshead have finally started to school up in the Bay Pines Area back in the bayou around oyster bars , deeper holes ,docks and bridges. On recent trips been able to catch our limit of Sheepshead and a couple Redfish mixed in. Sheepheads likes small crabs and shrimps but Speepheads are bait robbers you must be ready for the right nibble and set the hook. I use a 1 or2 ought hook with a light weight or 1/8 jig head with a small piece of shrimp or crab, been catching fish up 5 lbs, these fish are very tasty.
