Bahamas Recap & Local Bite

Capt. Nick Cremasco

Stuart - Saltwater Fishing Report

May 15:

So we had a great time in the Bahamas. I haven't fished out of boat harbor for any length of time in 7-8 years. It's a beautiful place and we were blessed with some good fishing which could have been great with a little luck.

Over 8.5 days of fishing we caught 53 mahis from 10-35lbs. 4 wahoo and a 1/2 dozen tuna. In the billfish department the blue marlin had the best of us. We were 0-5 on blue marlin, 2-4 on sailfish and 6-9 on white marlin.

Look forward to going back next year!

We were tied up behind One of the coolest boats I've ever seen. It was a completely re-done 1954 Rybovich called the Rhino and owned by Alan Jackson. Got to see Alan, get an autograph for Zane and a tour of the boat. It was icing on the cake.

In the custom boat shootout we were 4-5 on white marlin and 0-3 on blue marlin. If we had held on to our 3 blue marlin we would have finished 1800 points which would have been good enough for 3 place overall. But you can't expect to bat 100%. I failed to get enough bites. But we had a blast fishing with tons of laughs and great stories. Philip and Cole both caught their first white marlin too. So given the fact my guys caught their first white marlin and between the two of them have only caught 3 blue marlin finishing in the middle of that impressive list of anglers and crews was a reward in itself.

Here's to more practice and and hopefully a bright future...

Oops.

Thought we had a full day and I planned my attack accordingly but unfortunately we only had a 3/4 day today. So I gave the guys an extra 45 minutes because of some extra time bait fishing and running around planning my full day attack lol

Anyway we caught a dozen rudder fish, 7 Amberjack keeping a limit of 4. We also caught a keeper Cobia, 4 genuine red snappers to 35" and unfortunately 0-9 on grouper digs!

Tmrw is another day hope the weather lets us get out. 90% chance of rain and thunderstorms!!!
