Stuart - Saltwater Fishing Report

Since I started charter fishing in 2001, September has always been the summertime/boatyard blues time of year and this year is no different for DayMaker charters. Unfortunately, the first 4 trips I had scheduled this month were cancelled because of the lingering tropical system named Hermine. First, the storm got us when it came through the keys with tons of tropical moisture. Then, the storm re-entered up in the panhandle and delivered more moisture to our area. Once the rain was gone through the ground swell started as Hermine extended its life spinning off the coast of New Jersey! This past Wednesday was our last attempt to go fishing but we couldn't clear the inlet because of the NE Swell from Hermine and the Ebb tide. Waves were breaking clear across the inlet!

Tomorrow, Wednesday and Thursday I will be running charters on the DayMaker and the weather looks good! Can't wait to get out and bend the rod. In between the charters I will be at the boat yard everyday with the Kickin Tires. We are replacing the covering boards, doing the 1000hr service on the coolers, rebuilding a turbo, as well as re-bedding a salon window. Also adding a new boot stripe and catching up on some hull wax! I expect the boat will be in the yard 3-5 weeks.
The great news for customers is we are only a few weeks away from some excellent fall fishing that occurs every late Sept thru November. You can expect good to excellent dolphin fishing, trolling for sailfish and Blackfin tuna as well as great fishing for grouper and snapper leading up to the closure of grouper season January 1.

Fishing for Blackfin, sailfish and dolphin is excellent all the way into January and February. However the earlier you go the calmer the seas are traditionally. Currently we have about 15 days left available in both October, November and December.
September also marks the opening of Snook season for our inshore charters. As well it is the peak of Tarpon fishing on the beach and in the inlets coinciding with the Fall Mullet run. If you like snook and tarpon fishing and have not experienced the fall mullet run on the east coast you are missing out. You can expect explosive tarpon action, countless snook and Jack bites, crazy Jack and shark action and much more.
Give us a call or send an email to book your offshore or inshore fishing charter before it's too late!
