Stuart - Saltwater Fishing Report

May 11:
We cancelled our tuna fishing charter today at 3a.m. because of bad weather. High seas and lightning storms plagued the Tuna grounds. We live to fish another day...
May 12:
Today we fished with John and his family for a full day Stuart Fl fishing charter. We started the day trolling for dolphin and sailfish. Fishing was difficult but we saw a couple free jumping sails and knew we were in a decent area. After catching a couple bonito and missing a king bite we hooked and landed the first sailfish of 9yr Luke's fishing career. We tried some bottom fishing but it was very poor catching only 1 short Gag Grouper. We ended the day inshore looking for some Cobia but no Love today.
May 13:
Today we fished a charity trip with Dave and his buddies from Ft. Lauderdale. Dolphin fishing continues to be very slow for this time of year but with the passing front I would expect some odd results with the Westerly winds. However, the bottom fishing seems to have finally taken an upward tick after last week's ground swell. We ended up catching 7 Amberjack from 25-50lbs keeping a limit of 4. We also caught 7 Grouper keeping 6. We kept 3 Gags from 12-18lbs, a 12lbs Red, and a couple of Scamps to 6lbs. We caught 1 small dolphin trolling and 4 bonito.
Hopefully the dolphin fishing will improve with the ENE forecast for tomorrow. And it looks like the Bottom fishing is getting better. Hope that continues.

May 14:
Today we fished with Derek and Bob from South Carolina on our Jensen Beach Fishing charter. Hopes were for the trolling to get a little better on the backside of the front with the ENE wind. Before we had the full spread out we caught our first fish. A bonito for bottom bait. We trolled around for a while with minimal success. We transitioned back and forth from bottom fishing to trolling 7 times today. We caught a limit of Gag Grouper, a couple Jacks, Snapper to 15lbs and a 12lb mahi.
