Bottom Fishing Off the Hook

Capt. Nick Cremasco
June 10, 2013
Stuart - Saltwater Fishing Report

June 4:

Today we fished with regular customers Carlo, Ted, Ed and Barbara for a split charter fishing Jensen Beach Fl. We enjoyed decent charter fishing on the bottom catching 3 out of 10 Grouper bites. The biggest of two Gag Grouper weighed 26lbs. We caught 3 Amberjack to 30lbs and 5 Snapper from 16-25lbs. We also caught a keeper size Red Grouper and a bucket full of Sea Bass.

June 5:

Today we fished with regular customers Steve, Gerry, Dale and his son. We enjoyed great weather and decent fishing on our Stuart Fl fishing charter. We started the day on a bottom fishing charter catching Grouper, Snapper, Sea Bass and Amberjack. Conditions were changing and we had to work at it but the guys put a decent box together of tasty fish. We did spend some time trolling but only caught bonito.

June 7:

Day two of Andrea and plenty of bad weather. No charter fishing today.

June 8:

Today we cut our fishing charter with Steve and his guest from Maryland short because of poor conditions. Cold water moved in from Jupiter to Ft. Pierce and plagued the fishing results. Sea surface temperatures were around 70 degrees (normally 80) and bottom temps were in the low 50's. We couldn't buy a quality bite on the bottom and the pelagic bite beside bonito was non-existant. Sea bass bit well and the guys got some dinner. We ended up coming in on a 1/2 day.

Tomorrow is another day. Hope the conditions for Jensen Beach fishing charters improve for our clients.

June 9:

Today we fished with Steve and his guest from the West coast of Florida. We enjoyed great weather and improved temperatures from yesterday. On our 3/4 day fishing charter today we caught plenty of bonito and a handful of dolphin. We tried bottom fishing but the current was smoking to the North. We had almost 4 knots of current in 115 feet of water. We made a couple of attempts on the bottom but it was futile. After getting our fill of bonito we saved some time and ran inshore to look for some Cobia. We did not find any on the first two wrecks and decided to anchor up on the 3rd spot. We got spooled on a spinning rod by a big shark and caught a barracuda. Not what we were looking for but exciting non the less.

Looking forward to tomorrow. Hope the conditions continue to improve.
