Cobia, An Excellent Plan B

Capt. Nick Cremasco
June 25, 2013
Stuart - Saltwater Fishing Report

June 18:

Today we fished with Bill and his family for a 3/4 day fishing charter. We enjoyed amazing weather on our deep sea fishing charter. After yesterday's action we decided to hit the bottom in hopes of catching some grouper and amberjack right away. We this fish did not disappoint. We caught a couple of Gag Grouper to 15lbs, a couple Amberjack to 23lbs, sea bass and lane snapper. It was a great day for a South Florida fishing charter and a great family to have on a Stuart charter for fishing.

June 19:

Today we fished with Robert and his family for a 3/4 day fishing charter. Conditions were cold on the bottom and have made for some tough fishing. We ended up catching a limit of Sea Bass and releasing a sailfish which was Roberts 1st. We saw 6 sails in an hour of trying and ended catching one of those rascals. Looking forward to tomorrow hope the conditions improve on the bottom.

June 20:

Today we fished with Brian and his guest for a 3/4 day fishing charter. We kept a couple Amberjack to 30lbs out of the 6 we caught. We also caught a couple Cobia to 35lbs and battled a few sharks. On top of that we caught 7 bonito too.

July is filling up fast so give us a call to book your fishing charter for the 4th of July Holiday week.

June 21:

Today we fished with Luke and his guest for Luke's anniversary present fishing charter. We enjoyed beautiful weather and decent fishing. We caught a limit of Amberjack, a 15lb Gag Grouper and a couple of Cobia to 25lbs. We also lost a couple of 40-50lb Cobia to sharks and leader failure.

We had a great time and bent some rods. Looking forward to next anniversary.

June 22:

We donated a charter for auction to the Kyle Conrad Memorial Foundation and participated in their charity golf tournament today at Ballantrae Golf and Country Club. Great event, great people and a great cause.

June 23:

Today we fished with repeat customer Debbie Connell and her guest for Florida fishing charter near Sebastian. The goal was to fill the box with bottom fish but the conditions had other ideas. We had south tide on the bottom despite a north current on the surface. We tried and tried again but failed to have any decent action in multiple spots that we tried. Not wanting to catch sailfish we switched gears to look for some Cobia inshore. we ended up catching 3 Cobia with the biggest going to Kim and weighing 49lbs.

June 24:

Today we fished with Ben and 5 high school graduates from Georgia. We started the day catching a well full of threadfins for kite fishing for dolphin, sailfish and tuna. We started out with a bang shortly after getting the spread out we caught a shark and hooked a double-header of sailfish. While we were fighting those sails we jumped a 3rd sail off. Ten minutes later we were still fighting the double and hooked a 3rd sailfish. We released all three fish which were first for the anglers and ran back to make another drift. We ended up having 3 more sailfish bites catching and releasing a 4th fish for the day. In between the sail bites we jumped off a couple small dolphin and caught 3 bonito. The guys had their fill of the surface action so we looked for some grouper. They did not cooperate very well but we did catch a couple Amberjack to 20lbs and a 25lb Cobia.
