Stuart - Saltwater Fishing Report

Fished a 3/4 day on September 23rd and had a Ton of rod bending action and it was all on the bottom. We started the morning looking for sails on an edge that a boat caught a triple on as we were finishing catching bait. However, we never had a surface bite...
After an hour of boredom we decided to go bottom fishing! We caught 9 Amberjack from 10-40lbs most in the 25lb range. Also released 16 Genuine "extinct" Red Snapper from 10" to 8lbs. We also caught Sea Bass, 3 mutton snapper, vermillion snapper and plenty of Atlantic Sharp Nose Sharks and some Almaco Jacks as well!
We also broke off a handful of fish in the bottom and had some amberjacks get eaten by sharks. Killer show boat side at one point!

Double 1/2 day on September 24th turns into 1 1/2 day because of alternator issue!
Well with a delayed departure after swapping out my alternator this morning we were off for our morning 1/2 day with Ray and Rob. They were hoping for their first sailfish releases and some amberjack action.
We caught some bait and then we ran off to a couple 100 feet and started trolling. We caught a barracuda and Rob hooked and released his first ever sailfish off the right flat. It was a classic bite with the fish coming back to the dredge and when we finally came tight she tore off and jumped 20 times and dumped 400 yards of line quickly! We trolled around for another hour with no bites so we went Amberjack fishing. The guys each caught a couple fish from 15-40lbs and we kept a limit of 2 fish for the fryer! Made some moves and tried to give away some live baits inshore but had no luck. Got chased south by a squall and decided to fish some live baits on the surface. Ray caught his first Bonito and unfortunately jumped off his first ever sailfish. Shortly after that we called it a day. And unfortunately given our late departure I had to reschedule my afternoon trip!
Just glad we got to go at all. Thank God for spare parts and a little mechanical sense... Little lol
