Stuart - Saltwater Fishing Report

April 24:
Today we were blown out of the first day of a two day tuna fishing charter. We opted to fish locally because the weather was good here. Fishing was not lock and load but the quality of Mahi we encountered was nice. We hooked 10 dolphin up to 35lbs. Unfortunately the biggest fish jumped off but we did manage to keep 7 fish with 5 fish ranging from 10-28lbs. We also caught a 25lb Cobia to round out the day.

April 25:
Today our fishing charter was with Jim and Tami Labeskie and their guest. We enjoyed decent dolphin fishing today. Trolling for dolphin yielded 14 dolphin with some nice fish up to 30lbs. The Spring run is starting up and with Grouper season opening on May 1st filling your freezer should be relatively easy. Give us a call for some great Spring charter fishing.

April 28:
My Dad had open heart surgery last Monday and I went to visit him with Mandy and Zane this weekend. Things are looking good. It will be a long time for recovery but we are very optimistic.
April 29:
Today we cancelled our local fishing charter. This has been a brutal month we were booked for all 30 days in April and fished about a 1/3 of the dates we had booked. Can you say UGH?
April 30:
Today we cancelled our Tuna fishing charter because of weather.
May 1:
Today our Grouper fishing charter was with Jim and Tami Labeski and their friends Debbie and Roger. The goal was Grouper and they did not disappoint. We ended up catching a limit of 4 Gag Grouper from 8-22lbs and released another 7 Grouper from 12-25lbs. We also released a 29" Genuine Red Snapper and caught some Banded Rudder fish and Amberjack to 30lbs. We also looked for some Cobia in the afternoon. We did not catch any but we caught a slot size Snook and a Snook that we released 1" over the slot.
