Stuart - Saltwater Fishing Report

July 25:
Today we fished with Robert and his wife from Alaska. Water quality is poor from Lake Okeechobee Discharges and fishing is showing it. We ran 15 miles north of the inlet looking for bait but had no success. We ran offshore from there and trolled only to catch a couple bonito. We tried some bottom fishing but only managed to catch a short Grouper. We tried many spots and had no bites at all. We even fished chicken rigs with squid and only caught a couple porgies. The weather turned bad early and we made it an early day.
July 27:
Today we fished with regular customer Brian Kelly and his sons. We decided to leave an hour early and go high speed trolling for wahoo off Jupiter and Palm Beach. We high speed trolled for wahoo for two hours with no bites. We tried drifting for snapper ( Lanes, Mangroves and Muttons) but the bite just wasn't happening down there either. We decided to troll to the North with some ballyhoo only to catch a couple bonito. We picked up and made some moves and bottom fished our way 15 miles North of our inlet. We caught 3 30lb Amberjack and 18 keeper sea bass out of about 60 that we caught. I will say it may have been the first time I fished 3 counties on a single local day fishing charter.
TOUGH FISHING...
July 29:
Today we fished with regular Customer Mike Bird, his son Mike and their friend. We went looking for Tuna. Weather was not on our side in the morning so we decided to try for wahoo only to miss one. We then decided to go for it. By the end of the day we caught a handful of Blackfin Tuna to 10lbs, Skipjack Tuna and 4 Yellowfin Tuna to 60lbs.
Turned out to be great weather

July 30:
Today we fished with Jim his son and friends. We started the day looking for some bait with no success but we had bait penned up for bottom fishing so off we went to look for some grouper and Amberjack. We had a handful of bites at the first spot and that would have been our only bites. We caught a throwback Scamp Grouper and missed a few other bites on live bait and a jig. We tried 8 spots then decided to go inshore and tangle with some Goliath Grouper and caught 2 out of 6 bites. The fish weighed between 250 and 300lbs. Unfortunately we broke the rod on the 2nd one and couldn't continue. So off to look for some Cobia on some other inshore wrecks. No luck, off to the inlet to look for snook, no luck.
Tomorrow is another day.
