Epic Conditions and Fishing

Capt. Nick Cremasco
January 9, 2016
Stuart - Saltwater Fishing Report

January 1:

Want to wish everyone a Happy New Year! Mandy Zane and I hope your 2016 is filled with Hope, Health and Happiness. May it be prosperous too. Look forward to charter fishing Stuart Florida with you in 2016!

January 2:

We started out our 1/2 day charter with Lisa, her son Peyton, his sister Ann Preston and their friend Mike. Lisa was not feeling well so I brought her back in and headed back out with just the kids. We started out kite fishing trying to catch a sailfish or a dolphin. We had a couple of dolphin bites and jumped the bigger one off but Peyton did catch his first one so that was good. With the action being slow on the kite fishing end I decided to switch it up and take the kids bottom fishing to hopefully catch some dinner. We had good action to wrap the day up. We caught 3 Cobia to 36lbs and of the kids caught their first Cobia. We also caught some Mutton snapper and Triggerfish.

January 3:

Fished on the Kickin Tires today and we started fishing around 9am and quit fishing at 1pm to try and beat the weather home. We had excellent mahi-mahi fishing on a beautiful current edge in 145ft of water 6 miles NE of the inlet. We caught 38 dolphin on our trolling charter. We kept 31 of the Dolphin and everyone went home with a bunch of nice bags of fish. We also raised 3 sailfish but we were unable to get bites from them because the Dolphin kept stealing the bait. LOL EPIC BITE PROBLEMS...

Well the great edge with a color change, temp break went away over night and the fishing for dolphin fell flat. We had 3 mahi-mahi bites on our trolling charter and caught all 3. I decided to switch gears to bottom fishing to try and put some meat in the box. We caught 4 Amberjack to 20lbs, 1 out of 5 Cobia, some mutton snapper and triggerfish.

We had some serious bad luck on the Cobia. If it could have went wrong it did. Oh well, that's fishing!
